What is it?
Applied Identity is a centralized authentication system that allows users to log in seamlessly across multiple Applied products, including Epic, CSR24, and Indio. By integrating Applied Identity with Indio, users who are already logged into Epic will be automatically authenticated in Indio, eliminating the need to re-enter their email. This integration improves security, simplifies workflows, and enables smoother connections between Indio and other Applied systems, enhancing user experience and supporting future features like shared documents and portals.
Why did we create this feature?
We developed Applied Identity in order to simplify user access and improve integration between Indio and Applied products like Epic. Without Applied Identity, users had to re-enter their email when switching between systems, causing friction in their workflows. By adopting Applied Identity, we streamline authentication, allowing users to seamlessly transition between systems without additional steps. This enhances security, supports critical API integrations, and helps us meet customer demands for smoother workflows and better connectivity between Indio and Epic, all while improving the overall user experience.
Note: This feature is currently not enabled for all agencies. If you would like to test this feature for your agency please contact our support team.
-----Applied Identity Setup Guide-----
1. On Indio Login Screen, the first step now is to select how users would like to log in.
If users have an account on Epic and are logging in as an agent, select - “Agent”
If users are logging in as a client, select - “Client”
If users don’t want to use Epic login in credentials to login to Indio, Select - “Login as agent without using Epic”
2. Selecting Agent will redirect users to Epic’s login screen prompting you to the Epic Login Screen. On this screen the user should input the credentials they use to log in to Epic.
3. This will redirect you back into Indio to enter your Indio email address and password to make the link between Epic and Indio. Then the user will be able to enter Indio.
Going forward after the connection has been made the user will no longer need to input their Indio credentials and can use Applied Identity to login.
---Logging In As Client---
1. Enter the email address for user’s client account.
If the email entered is only linked to an agent’s account it will follow through with Indio’s normal agent login process.
2. Enter the login code sent to the email.
---Login As Agent Without Using Epic---
This Process follow the normal Indio Agent login process, where the user will enter in their Indio credentials and click Login.
In this process if the email is associated with only an insured/client user, it will follow the normal login process of a client and where the user will be prompted to enter their login code.
---Login Nuances---
Applied Identity Flow for user on Epic that does not Exist on Indio:
In this scenario, when going through the Applied Identity login process, the user will be asked to add your email on Indio in the email prompt screen. Proceeding with that email address using Applied Identity will create a new Indio user with that email and link it your Applied Identity for your Epic user.
FAQ
Does logging out of Applied Identity or Epic log you out of Indio?
No, we don't log you out of Indio automatically even if you Epic user times out. You would still have to go to the top-right corner initials in Indio and choose log out.
Does Applied Identity in Indio require Epic browser?
No, Epic browser is not required, but this feature DOES require that the agency use IAMv2 (or Auth0) to access Epic. All Epic browser agencies use this, and agencies that still use the RIC can use Applied Identity in Indio if they use IAMv2.
My Agency has 2 or more instances of Epic as well as 2 or more Indio environments(domains) will there be any issues logging in with Applied Identity?
No, there shouldn’t be any issues as each Indio environment is connected to a its own instance of Epic.
My agency has multiple Indio brokerages, can I use Applied Identity to log into multiple brokerages?
Yes, you can use the same Applied Identity credentials to log into other brokerages, given that you already have access to them.
Help! I signed out of Epic and signed back in, but Indio won’t let me in?
In this situation the user would get an SSO error and would be unable to get into Indio until they clear out specified cookies and cached data from their browser. You can clear out your entire browser’s cookies and cached data if that is easier, but if you would like specified cookies and cached data to clear out they are for: useindio.com, myappliedproducts.com, appliedepic.com, and appliedcloudservices.com. The reason users need to clear their cookies and cached data is because the API token is saved from the previous epic session. So logging out of epic or retrying to login with Applied Identity will not work.
To clear cookies and cached data:
Go to your browser setting
Select Settings and go to the privacy tab
Select the option for clearing out cookies and cache data and delete that data.
Clearing cookies and cached data varies from system to system and browser to browser, but this is the general steps that most browsers support to clearing data.
What happens if I’m a user on Epic, but I don’t have an account on Indio?
If you don’t have an Indio account, when going through the Applied Identity login process. After entering your Epic credentials, enter the email address on Indio in the email prompt screen that you want associated for your Applied Identity Login. After entering your email, proceed with the Applied Identity process. This will create a new Indio user account with the email you provided and link it to your Epic user account using Applied Identity.
What if I’m an Epic user who already has an Indio account but has never logged in with Applied Identity before?
If your Indio account already exists, when going through the Applied Identity login process, start by selecting “Agent”. Then enter your Epic credentials. Then you will be redirected back to Indio to enter your Indio email address and password to verify your Indio account and make the link between Epic and Indio. Then the user will be able to enter Indio. Once verified, your Epic user account will be successfully synced with your Indio user account through Applied Identity. Going forward after the connection has been made the user will no longer need to input their Indio credentials and can use Applied Identity to login. See Setup Above.
What happens if I use a non-existent email address, when logging in as an agent without using Epic?
In this scenario the user will be navigated to Epic log in screen where if the user never logged into Indio by using applied identity. The user will log into Indio as the previous user that used to log in with applied identify. There is a ongoing bug fix ticket to fix this process to show users an error message.
